Message from Co-Ordinator

There are 3 kinds of people in the world:
  1. People who have never been to playgroup
  2. People who have had a bad experience at playgroup and
  3. People who have found a playgroup they love and look forward to going each to each week.

At Little Fish Playgroup, we hope to make lots of people fit into the 3rd group.  If you are a #1 I would encourage you to try a playgroup in your local area if you are looking for some socialisation for yourself and your child.  If you are #2 I would like to personally invite you to visit our playgroup and try it out.  We are not a large group at present so we don’t represent too much of an overwhelming front.  There are no registration fees, just a small weekly donation and there are no parent rosters, both of which are stumbling blocks for many young families wanting to join a playgroup.

Each week we have an assortment of toys and activities, including craft and playdough, with toys and activities rotated, so that each week things are fresh and not too repetitive.  Our playgroup is a happy balance between structure and free play, minimising noise and disruptive play.

If you are worried about your child’s ability to share or sit quietly to listen to a story during circle time and worried that they might be too disruptive I encourage you to come and give it a chance.  In my experience (17+ as a child carer worker and 11+ running playgroup) children, even young toddlers can quite quickly learn to be less disruptive during story time if they have examples before them.  It might take a few weeks of gentle guidance, but most children soon learn how to be less disruptive and more importantly all the other families who have and still do attend playgroup have been through that stage and their will be no judgment, only support and encouragement.

Hope to see you soon
